And you don't do it because you now He won't hear, and come?
But that's life seen through the wrong end of a telescope.
He's only as far away as we force Him to be.
God, where are you hiding?
I cannot see Your face.
You were just abiding
here, and now there is no trace.
Please let me be mistaken;
please let this pass away,
the thought that I'm forsaken
in this burning mortal clay.
God, did you just speak to me?
I heard a still, small voice
"My son, I made and longed for thee,
but it's you who has the choice.
There's just one rule that I apply:
die to self...and betimes, just die."

Andrew, there are times when God feels far away. I've heard some people say sometimes it feels like that because we're not listening to Him. Our choices have distanced ourselves from Him. I've read others' words that sometimes it feels this way, not because God is far away, but that He may not be answering because He wants us to draw closer to Him, even when we don't feel or hear Him. That's a genuine choosing Him no matter what our circumstances indicate.
ReplyDeleteI'm praying for you, friend.
Jeanne, I love the way you put these aspects of God's perceived 'distance'. First-rate! Thank you so much for this, and for your prayers.

DeleteThank you so much for being here.
Oh Lord, make Yourself known to Andrew! Give him eyes to see You, ears to hear You, the hands and feet of loved ones to manifest Your tangible presence. In his seeking of You may he easily find You. Wrap Yourself around him in a way that is so clearly Your presence that he is saturated, penetrated to his very narrow with You, Your Peace, Your Love. Amen
ReplyDeleteMelissa, thank you so much for this lovely, loving prayer. It's so appreciated, and so needed!
DeleteYes, die to self, just die, and be born into eternity. The path of the cross that links Heaven and Earth. Thank you for this—so well said and beautifully framed. I can see Christ in the lines. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteChristina, wow...I am so honoured and blessed by your words. Truly!
DeleteBlessings back!
When we all get to Heaven we'll see that He was always with us. It would be nice if God let us see that more clearly here, but there are probably reasons we can't comprehend why we have to learn to walk in faith.
ReplyDeleteJan, yes...we will see His presence so clearly, with, I think, a feeling of "Duh! How did I MISS that?"
DeleteI kind of think of learning to walk in faith as like teaching a kid to ride a bike. He won't fall if you run alongside and steady him, but he won;t learn to ride, either.
