Your Dying Spouse 690 - California Dreamin'

OK, first, a disclaimer. I have nothing against California or Californians, but I could not resist the temptation to take the mickey out of the state's reputation, given the opportunity.

Barb went to Indiana at the end of last week, and flying home on October 26, 2019, she was routed through Los Angeles. The flight would continue on to Albuquerque, but still, I was concerned...

This was the advice I gave her:
  1. Do not get off the aeroplane
  2. Lock yourself in the restroom
  3. Close your eyes and cover your ears.
  4. Pray loudly in the manner of T.D. Jakes
  5. Wear a tinfoil hat.
You can't be too careful.

Right now my wife is travelling,
and I'm quite concerned today
that her mind might come unravelling;
she's flying through LA!
In Christ she always had reliance,
and she listens when God talks,
but coming home, will she take guidance
from a pair of crystal rocks?
She's only there a couple hours,
but that's enough for trauma,
enough to now extoll the powers
of Mendocino marijuana.
She'll yet be apple of my eye
if she returns dressed like a guy.

Music from the beach Boys, with It's a Beautiful Day.

Friends are everything. I couldn't have done it.

Marley, the canine waif from Afghanistan, whom WE helped save, has a Facebook page! Please drop by to see how happy he is today.

Below are my recent releases on Kindle -please excuse their presence in the body of the blog. I haven't the energy to get them up as 'buttons' in the sidebar. You can click on the covers to go to the Amazon links.

  1. You know how I’m impressed with your poetic cheek
Yet I’m surprised to see you missed the topic of the week
No, it’s not impeachment, foreign relations, or the like
It’s the game recognized for the hit, the ball, the strike!
The World Series is on the tube, and everyone should watch
As the Houston Astros take their level of play up a notch
Yes, the Nationals may be commended for coming this far
But the team to root for is the one with the H and a star
For the stars at night are big and bright in Texas, it’s true
And you’ll never wrong cheering for the orange and the blue
Here in Houston, we’ll be yelling, “Go, ‘Stros, do it again!”
Mark my words, it’s coming soon—a World Series win.

    1. J, I LOVE this, and I am a huge fan of anything and everything Texas.

The years I lived in West Texas were the best, because of the wonderful people.

  2. Your advice has left me chuckling this morning, friend. I haven't seen anyone in a tin foil hat praying loudly recently, but if I do, I'll see if it's Barb!

    ;-}

  3. Andrew, your poem made me smile. Your wife has a sound mind, and I suspect she came home with a funny observation or two of her time in LAX. Hopefully, the fires weren't too bad in that part of the state.

I'm continuing to pray for you both, my friend.

    1. Jeanne, she did come back mentally intact (well, as intact as living with me will allow), and she talked with some really nice people.

Thank you so much for the prayers!
