Your Dying Spouse 635 - Bid Me Rise {FMF}

This is now the land of Never;
I've given everything, and more.
God, I call myself Believer
but what on earth is still in store?
Days are aching, hard and weary,
well of strength is long since dry;
can it be that this is merely
the waiting for my time to die?
Far-off, hear the Roman trumpet,
legions' footfall, hear the drums,
I am wrapped in martial comfort
as something mighty this way comes.
They bid me rise, and bid me care,
and will not leave me standing there.

Music from Ottorino Respighi, with the fourth movement of The Pines of Rome, entitled The Appian Way. It's a musical nod to classical Rome, depicting the return of a triumphant legion.

It's conducted by the marvellous Andre Rieu.

Thanks to Carol Ashby, Blessed Are The Pure Of Heart is back on Kindle, and will be available in paperback soon.

Friends are everything. I couldn't have done it.

Marley, the canine waif from Afghanistan, whom WE helped save, has a Facebook page! Please drop by to see how happy he is today.

Below are my recent releases on Kindle -please excuse their presence in the body of the blog. I haven't the energy to get them up as 'buttons' in the sidebar. You can click on the covers to go to the Amazon links.

  1. You have definitely given way more than most people would be able! I believe wholeheartedly that God is using you more and more each day for His Good. I wonder... how many hearts, how many lives, has your testimony touched? It's amazing how one person can reach so many when they know only a few. (I found this out when my oldest son died in 2013... it was standing room only at his funeral. We had no idea his life had touched so many!) Our prayers continue for you and Barb and those wonderful doggies!

    1. Diana, thank you so much for this thoughtul comment...I sometimes do wonder how many lives have intersected mine through this meium. It's a strange feeling; most of my time is spent in a canine community, I have no phone (can't talk well, and can't hear well), and no-one stops by, so it can feel petty isolated.

      And yet...the comments, from so many people, and so sincere and moving. I'm blessed.

      Thank you so much for the prayers; you guys are in ours.

  3. Thank you, Andrew. You are an inspiring teacher along the road we all are on. God bless you. Ordered your books and just began Faith in the Night. You are perfectly right in the logic of belief and suffering. Refreshing to read. And I agree with Diana too. God is working through you.

  6. Hi Andrew, I just finished reading "Joan of Arc" by Mark Twain. He did her justice. Courage, bravery, innocence, faithfulness, trust, inspiration, purity, heartache, truth-talk, betrayal, it's all there in this illiterate young woman's life. She inspired. I've always appreciated her life and see it as one to aspire to. When we observe courage in others we are encouraged to face our own struggles with greater heart, we're strengthened by them. Keep the good fight, Andrew. You have a loyal following. We celebrate your courage, your tenacity, and your words of truth. God bless you. Still praying.

    1. My dear Norma, thank you so much for this...Joan of Arc has always been one of my heroines, and that you can bring up her name, and mine, in the same paragraph...I'm floored. And so very honoured!

      Thank you so much for your prayers, and your friendship.

  9. Wow, Andrew! What an inspiring and climactic love story between you and Barbara. I don't so much enjoy a love story that's full of bliss and complete unity from day one onward, as I do a love story that is full of flaws, repentance and redemption. Sounds like you packed all three into yours. Congrats and know that I'm praying for you, as well as your lovely bride!
