Your Dying Spouse 615 - As I Was

I don't want you to see me
the way I am today.
Please let stand the memory
with nothing in its way.
I'd love for you to be here,
but the pity in your eyes
would make good times disappear,
replaced by demons' lies.
Death's a huge fell giant,
but hollowed out, within;
scary to make you compliant
to the devil's mannequin.
So remember me from better places;
let those be our last shared graces.

For those who have been following the story, Rachel Held Evans died on Saturday, May 4, 2019. You can find a summary of this tragic tale here, and there's also an address to which you may send cards of condolence.

Music from The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, with Remember Me.

Thanks to Carol Ashby, Blessed Are The Pure Of Heart is back on Kindle, and will be available in paperback soon.

Friends are everything. I couldn't have done it.

Marley, the canine waif from Afghanistan, whom WE helped save, has a Facebook page! Please drop by to see how happy he is today.

Below are my recent releases on Kindle -please excuse their presence in the body of the blog. I haven't the energy to get them up as 'buttons' in the sidebar. You can click on the covers to go to the Amazon links.

  1. Don't worry, Andrew, most of us have never seen you "in person"... But we will remember YOU & YOUR HEART seen and heard through your beautiful words!

    Love & prayers, Kathryn

    1. Kathryn, thank you so much for this, from the bottom of my heart!

  2. I wish I could meet you and your wife, but I’m grateful I’ve at least met you via your blog. You’ve touched my heart time and again!

    1. Patti, you have touched our hearts too...and we are so grateful for your friendship!

  3. It's what is on the INSIDE that counts. That is the REAL you! So we have "met" you 👍

    1. Thank you so much, ThiunkingPink! I do appreciate that (and love the 'handle').

  4. Thank You Andrew! This last line is gold: "So remember me from better places;
    let those be our last shared graces"

  5. (((((Andrew)))))
    You're a winner.
    Annie in Texas

    1. ((((((Annie!))))))

      Takes one to know one! :)

  6. Rachel's death has impacted me in surprising ways, even though I was not a close follower of hers.

    Perhaps it's because she was even younger than my own daughters. And she had a strong capacity to make us think about what we believe and why.

    1. Linda, I feel the same way...I wa familiar with her writing, but the pathos of the situation with such a sudden disaster, and her family...it really touched me.

  7. This is the way I met you, my thoughts have never changed. Your heart more on display, than pain could ever dismay. So fear not the lie that tells you your identity lies in that, which the mirror holds before your eyes....oh no my friend, I know you're more than that!

    1. Mary, wow. I'm just so touched and honoured by your words. Thank you for this!
