And that is where you find youself standing on bedrock.
There is no place of refuge,
there is nowhere to run;
no shelter from the deluge,
no shade against the sun.
You cannot call for mercy
from demons' ripping claws
and when strength deserts thee
there shall be no pause.
The days are never-ending,
the nights are longer still,
no point in now pretending
that former steadfast will.
Here at the end of things
hearts open for the Grace He brings.

Gives extra meaning to the Dark Night of the Soul. Out of isolation came something of beauty for St. John of the Cross. He was wise enough to preserve His considerations for himself and others. His words have encouraged many a weary pilgrim in their spiritual quest. You too, Andrew, give us a glimpse into your world, considerations, blessings and undoings. Every day that you are still here to share your journey with your BPH community meets with thankful hearts. We know your destination awaits you, and for that we give God praise. Until then, continue to face the foe admirably. We're backing you up with prayer. Take heart.
ReplyDeleteMy dear Norma...wow. Thank you so much for this; I treasure your friendship and your words, and I am here honoured so very, very much.
DeleteAndrew, I have no words for you, but my heart is full of anticipation of getting to know you better on Jordan's other shore. Meantime, I treasure your words and your heart and your courage. Praying for you constantly. Grace and peace, little brother.
ReplyDeleteJudith, thank you so much...I look forardto that meeting, too.
DeleteAnd I am so grateful or your prayers!
Another beautiful poem and it shows you're not there yet.
ReplyDeleteJan, thank you so much!
DeleteWorst day yet. Still here, though.
