It was almost like the old days;
it was almost like a song,
before my life went sideways
and everything went wrong.
It started before sunrise,
dawn greeted by the birds,
telling of the day's surprise
in a chorus without words.
My buried hope arising,
expectation near awake
and a spirit, enterprising
to repair a lost heartache.
It's been years since I felt a lift
like this morning's spirit-gift.

ReplyDeleteMy late brother said our mother was "a tough old bird."
She endured much. So much!
And she still finds moments of joy.
Please consider it a compliment when I say you are "a tough old rooster."
