Your Dying Spouse 607 - Feeding The Animal

You've got to wonder, just how bad can this get?

And the answer is, worse.

So I guess I just have to get meaner and more stubborn, and when I die I'll get a fenced-off part of Heaven all to myself, with signs:

Do Not Feed The Animal.
He Bites.

This was the day death came for me,
and that was a mistake.
He said that he would set me free,
but it was he who'd break.
They never taught me how to quit,
and I sure won't learn now.
This is surely not the worst of it,
and I'll face the coming row.
I've always had the battle ready
and this is just the start;
Let hands be sure, eyes be steady,
and let iron fill my heart.
To freedom's offer, this reply:
I am far too young to die.

Music from the Electric Light Orchestra, with Livin' Thing. Why not?

Thanks to Carol Ashby, Blessed Are The Pure Of Heart is back on Kindle, and will be available in paperback soon.

Friends are everything. I couldn't have done it.

Below are my recent releases on Kindle -please excuse their presence in the body of the blog. I haven't the energy to get them up as 'buttons' in the sidebar. You can click on the covers to go to the Amazon links.

Every new post from you is a prayer answered, a miracle, a wonder.
You haven't finished sharing and teaching yet.

    The Lord be with you!

Thank you so much for this...on a day that has been worse than dreadful, your words are a Heaven-sent balm.

  2. There are no fences in Heaven and certainly no biting dear Andrew!!! You will be pain free for the first time in.....what probably will seem like forever. You will see the Glory of our Lord, face to face. He, who has been dimly lit in the beautiful glimpses here on Earth, will show His full Glory and Grace and you will KNOW what living really is!! You will sing with the myriad of voices a song so beautiful that we, stuck here on Earth, cannot even fathom. When He calls you on the day He has designated, you will fade from this Earth (maybe fighting the whole way) and enter into the fullness of His Grace.

"Now at last they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story which no one on earth has read: which goes on forever; in which every chapter is better than the one before." C.S. Lewis, The Last Battle (Chronicles of Narnia, #7)

A battle was fought, but as you keep reminding all of us who come to this place of encouragement, the War has already been won.

God bless your journey and thank you for sharing the Grace....

    1. Melissa, first, please pardon my delay in replying.

Thank you so much for this lovely, faith-and-grace-filled comment (and for the nod to C.S. lewis and The Last Battle, my favourite of the Narnia books)!

  3. Dear Andrew, I found your blog just a week or so ago through the "Mundane Faithfulness" blog which I stumbled upon during an afternoon of internet wanderings. Your tenacity, courage, faith, and dry, dark humor :) touch my heart. I pray for you and your wife throughout the day and night as Father God brings you to mind. May the Presence of the one who has promised to never leave us or forsake us give you the comfort and peace and strength needed today.

"Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come." I Cor. 1:21, 22 (I love that part at the end-"guaranteeing what is to come"-because what is to come is no more cancer, no more pain, no more tears, no more of any of this wretched stuff here. Guaranteed. Forever and ever. Amen!)

    1. Michelle, I am so grateful that you are here (and I am sorry about the lateness of this reply). The prayer you offer is just lovely, and the Scripture is perfect...especially that guarantee!

  5. Who says you are going to die young? They thought Jesus was dead. The grave is empty. He is still alive! Miracles happen every day! Happy Easter! Praying for you! You are more alive than you know. Life is in your words. Dead men have nothing to say. That ain't you
    Brother!
