Civil War

Can't keep food in at either end, very tired, massive swelling in the neck and chest. I know that if I don't eat they'll use a tube.

But we all have our problems, and America's are far, far wore.

So now the protestors are talking civil war. I wonder if they have any idea what would be in store?

The American Civil War was not representative of civil insurrection...it was, effectively, two nation-states going hammer-and-tongs at each other, with clearly defined borders and goals.

This mess...well, if these dolts get their way, it'll be more like the French Revolution (can anyone say guillotine?), or maybe more like Mogadishu (can anyone say mass starvation?)

It'll be neighbour against neighbour, children against parents, and the savagery will shock the world to the very core.

It's easy to say it won't happen, that it's just part of Portland and Seattle, and maybe half of Chicago.

Trouble is, people gain a taste for violence and anarchy, an for anger, and that appetite is being fe every day.

It happened in the Balkans, and mass graves were the result.

As a country, we're not in trouble yet.

But let this go on, and we will be.

Some say that this is civil war,
and everything must fall,
but friend, do not approach that door,
for you don't know at all
the monsters that you will unleash
(it's not people led by Liberty),
and I'm afraid the schools don't teach
a lot of vital history,
that the ones you would supplant
will in joy destroy ya,
and you'll find your promised land
is something out of Goya;
and if that's not fearful-crazy,
peruse the pics by Matthew Brady.

It's not this (Eugene Delacroix, Liberty Leading The People).

It's more like this...(Fransisco Goya, The Third of May, 1808)

...followed by this...(Dead of Antietam, credited to Matthew Bray's studio).

I do try to answer each comment in a timely fashion, but with Internet providers really stretched, I have only about half of the access I once did. Please bear with me!

Thanks to Carol Ashby, Blessed Are The Pure Of Heart is back on Kindle, and will be available in paperback soon.

Friends are everything. I couldn't have done it.

Below are my recent releases on Kindle -please excuse their presence in the body of the blog. I haven't the energy to get them up as 'buttons' in the sidebar. You can click on the covers to go to the Amazon links.

  5. Andrew I read your blog. I don’t know if we will ever have a civil war. Too many people don’t want to fight back or be political. They look the other way and do not say a word as our country is being ravaged. I wish more people on the Conservative side and people who call themselves Christians would fight for our freedoms that so many heroes from history gave their lives to protect. For example the rights of millions of babies who have the right to be born and have life is ignored as abortions kill so many of them

    1. Terri, I think that there is a lot of tolerance on the right, born partly of knowledge of history (remember the 60s?) and partly of confidence that the US has a lot of inertia and equilibrium.

But that patient reservoir will be exhausted, probably soon, and the screamers in the streets will find themselves vastly outnumbered by those who have had quite enough.

I hope they will go quietly, return to their menial jobs and classrooms, and relect on the act that vandalism, even writ large, does not bring change.

  6. It's upsetting to even think of such a thing. Yes, "things" must change but cival war-that can't happen. Thanks for a good thought starter.

    1. Suzette, it truly is upsetting...and in the days since the post was written, I've seen no improvement. I'm scared for the country.

  7. Too true Andrew. I pray for our nation. The problem is that most don't really know what the problem is.

  8. Your warnings are timely, and I hope America listens to those who are sounding the alarm. There will be nothing civil about it if the current anarchy continues. May God have mercy on us; may we have the resolve and courage to stand for what is right now, before it is torn away from all of us.

    1. Kym, you're so right...there will be no civility if this goes on, and I think that God's mercy - if we turn to Him - is our only escape from the abyss toward which we run.

  9. Andrew, so true. These are days of deception. I'd despair, but for God. He would heal our land if we as a people would but seek Him and turn to Him, and let Him. We will see if that happens. I pray for it.
Sad that your physical condition continues to worsen. I thought of you while watching the documentary, Breakthrough, about a Dr. Allison who has devoted his life to developing a cure for cancerous tumors. He has met with success. The tumors shrink. I watched it a few months ago. Here's a link with information if you've not seen it. https://www.breakthroughdoc.com/about
    Praying for you. God bless.

    1. My dear Norma, first, thank you for the heads-up on r. Allison, and the link. Going there now.

And you're so right; we have to let go of our graspings, and let God heal us, and our nation.

  11. Andrew, what a thought-provoking post. All the unrest feels like the beginnings of chaos being unleashed. I'm seeing even more the absolute need for prayer. And yes, a need for wise action. This involves all of us, not just those marching and looting in the streets. I'm pondering your words.

And, I'm praying for you and Barb, my friend.

  13. Finally able to post it looks like. You're spot on about not teaching vital history. Most, I said most, not all, teachers have an agenda to push instead of history.
