Five Minute Friday: MALL

The Five Minute Friday prompt this week is MALL.

Sorry, but you get another sonnet. I was just too ill to look up quotes.

I miss the old days at the mall,
the cool Aircon at every door,
and within, a place where all
was there that you could hope for.
I miss the jostling smiling crowd,
I miss the care took as I'd walk
through indoor canyons bright and loud
as I heard the shoppers talk
of treasures from Old Navy,
Baby Gap and Borders
It all seems a bit crazy
that a world of online orders
has rendered those days dead and gone,
crushed underfoot by Amazon.

Syl liked dog-friendly malls.

Five Minute Friday: SALE

The Five Minute Friday prompt this week is SALE.  Enjoy!

I could only find snarky quotes on SALE, and I don't care for snark, so guess what...you get another sonnet.

This is something hard to face,
and when we try, we often fail,
but when we're searching for God's grace
it never is on sale.
He'll give it to you for free
but it bears a fearsome price,
which is and which can only be
your prideful ego's sacrifice,
so step right up, get on your knees,
prepare for your rebirth.
You needn't say, "Oh, pretty please!
for God has set your worth
as greater than His Son's own pain,
so die to sin, for death is gain.

Sylvia loves it when ice cream is on sale.

Five Minute Friday: CHRISTMAS SWEATER

This week's Five Minute Friday prompt is CHRISTMAS SWEATER.

I couldn't face looking for quotes, 'cause they'd likely come with pictures. So you get a poem instead. Sorry.

'Tis the season of the Sweater,
roused from where it had been sleeping,
an artform in which worse is better;
we don it and will soon be reaping
our friends' aghast puzzled stares
that imply our marbles fled.
Why else a scene of polar bears
pulling Glam-Rock Santa's sled?
And what's with the LEDs
blinking where they shouldn't blink?
Their eyes implore, oh, pretty please,
did you even stop to think
that now you've made me anxious, fretful,
that I won't find something more dreadful?

For some Glam-Rock Christmas cheer, here's Wizzard with I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day.

It's a really sweet and charming song and video. I hope you'll give it a try.

Sylvia had a Christmas Sweater. She shredded it.
