Your Dying Spouse 332 - Days Of Trial

This will be another short post...I did catch up on the comments from the previous two posts, and I greatly appreciate the time y'all took to drop by and comment.

More than you know; in a life that's become very isolated, all y'all's a lifeline.

Yes, I did live in Texas. However did you know?

These have been very hard days, both physically and mentally. The battering my body's taking is leaving me, most of the time, in an eerie netherworld between cognizance and unconsciousness, and memories, dreams, and the like float by unbidden.

Most of them pretty unpleasant.

I'm not asking for sympathy here...but if you ever find yourself in the role of a caregiver for someone who's terminally ill and going out hard, expect the toll it will take on the soul.

Hey, a rhyme! The toll it will take on the soul...cool.

And it's not easy for Barb, because pain makes me somewhat less than coherent. She mentioned that I had recently told her that she looked like Patrick Stewart, and that Leonard Nimoy was in the closet.

Ah, the cultural influence of Star Trek!

I have to go now, but I'll leave you with a bit of music that I hope you'll enjoy...The Seekers, from way back in the 60s...I'll Never Find Another You.

  1. Keith Green singing The Lord is My Shepherd... one of my earliest memories of non traditional church music. Have you heard it? Not as "out there" as Star Wars.
Seriously, though, you sure sound like you are in the valley of the shadow of death. We are praying every day.
"I will not fear thou art with me"...my favorite line in that song.
I pray that you will be lifted high above human experience and transfigured into His presence each time your body succumbs.
May your Spirit be lifted high today!
    Love,
    Tammy
Star Wars bumper sticker: "Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."
My friend's Mom had that on her car for years.

    1. Love this, Tammy, and I have heard Keith Green's "The Lord Is My Shepherd". In fact, I have it up on Youtube as I write this.

Yes, it's the valley of the shadow; the past few days have been nothing but horrid, and yet...the experience, being with God, is transfiguring.

And I love the bumper sticker!!!!!

Love back, from all of us.

  2. Sorry things are so hard, Andrew, but you are a trooper and so is Barbara. Am keeping you both in my prayers! Oh, and I love that song by The Seekers. I remember hearing them a lot on the radio when I was in high school. :)

    1. Wendy, I really appreciate the prayers. The past few days have been nothing short of ugly; the prayers of my friends transfigures them.

  6. I understand the incoherence... Jerry (hubby) goes through those times when he has that blinding pain. He's nowhere near the time for hospice, of course, but his medical problems of 25+ years have taken a toll on both of us. He once asked me why I stay with him, with all his issues that can be so tough... I merely replied that I love him, he's my husband, and God gives me what I need to keep on keepin' on for both of us.

Andrew, on another subject, but not so far off – and if this is too personal or something you wish not to discuss, then please delete my comment – um, when the time comes, you know, when you can no longer post, will Barbara let us know how it's going? Will she tell us...?

Prayers always for all of you... especially for your comfort and peace, Andrew.

    1. Diana, thank you so much for sharing this...and sharing how you go on. This is so important!

When I can no longer post, there will be an announcement, yes. That is well in hand. It was hard to arrange, though...felt like I was courting bad luck!

We so appreciate the prayers, and they are needed. These have been ugly days.
