Your Dying Spouse 616 - Closing Time

The signs are getting kind of obvious...bend over, and I run out of breath, and the dogs keep me awake so I don't drift off forever.

Still going to keep going, because miracles happen, and one never knows, do one?

It's closing time, a-hole,
so why are you still here?
You think you still got a role,
or do you need another beer?
We've got to shut it down,
and you have got to leave;
sorry if that makes you frown,
but dude, c'mon, believe!
There's a better place out there,
and a world that doesn't hurt.
We're closing, but we really care;
to us you're more than dirt.
Take this Foster's in your hand,
and step out, to a better land.

Music from Semisonic, with (what else?) Closing Time.

Thanks to Carol Ashby, Blessed Are The Pure Of Heart is back on Kindle, and will be available in paperback soon.

Friends are everything. I couldn't have done it.

Marley, the canine waif from Afghanistan, whom WE helped save, has a Facebook page! Please drop by to see how happy he is today.

Below are my recent releases on Kindle -please excuse their presence in the body of the blog. I haven't the energy to get them up as 'buttons' in the sidebar. You can click on the covers to go to the Amazon links.

  1. I struggled with the tension between "letting go" (for want of better term) and continuing to fight, when my husband's oncologist said it was time for hospice. His situation was so very different from yours, of course, but that tension/struggle between acceptance and holding out hope or fighting or whatever you want to call it exists, I think, almost surely across the board. I hate to hear that the "signs" are growing. I continue to pray, of course, and I continue to hope.

    1. Patti, thank you so much for haring this; I know it cannot be easy, and I'm very grateful for your contribution here.

      For a number of reasons, hospice isn't really a viable option for me. Not much they could do, anyway.

      I'm so grateful for your prayers and hopes! I am still in this fight.

  3. Andrew, I'm praying for you. I know you feel the tug to be here for Barb, for the dogs, for your readers. I pray that, when it's time for you to go "home" you'll be ready to let go and know that God's holding in His very large hands those who are most dear to you. In the meantime, I pray for your health, for your strength, and all that. ;)

    1. jeanne, thank you so much for this. it is getting really, really hard, and tonight has been the worst; between pain (and worse) episodes, I'm not sure how to handle the next one.

      Eventually time to go, yes. Not quite yet. Still some living to do.

      And thank you so much for the prayers.
