Your Dying Spouse 405- Precious Words

We think we're going to live forever, until we realize we won't.

We think there will be time to do all of the things we wanted to, until time starts running out.

We think that there will come the right time to say the things we need to say, until the chance is lost.

We think we'll have the chance to make amends to those we've wronged, but amends take time, and the hourglass is emptying faster than we can move.

The legacy we leave is not what we've done; no one will remember the excellent golf game or the diligent professionalism we displayed at work. Our monuments will not be the patios we've built, or the rooms we've reconfigured and repainted for a more graceful life.

Our legacy is what we've said to the people who matter most, the words sincerely spoken that surround a wife with love and buoy up a friend whose hope is failing, and give heart to a stranger we've only kown through blogging.

So, while you have breath and voice, say the words.

"I'm proud of you."

"You're going a great job."

"I really appreciate what you've done."

"You can do it1"

And perhaps most important...

"I'm so sorry. I was wrong. Please forgive me."

Grace is your real legacy, and the highest grace you can offer is the one that humbles you the most.

Musical theme if from the late, great Jim Croce, with Time In A Bottle.

Please pardon my slow response to comments. I'm doing my best, and your comments are really precious to me.

Still hoping to get the new and improved version of Blessed Are The Pure Of Heart up and running in the near future. Just haven't had the energy to do it yet...but if you would like to read it, please say so in your comment and I'd be glad to send you a PDF (which should fit your Kindle).

I have another blog, "Starting The Day With Grace". The focus is a grace quote from someone you might not expect (like, say Mick Jagger) and a short commentary. I hope you'll join me.

Marley update... been moved to a sanctuary, and Bay County will revise their 'dangerous dog' codes.

WE MADE A DIFFERENCE!

And marley has a Facebook page! Please drop by to see how happy he is today.

If you can, please do leave a comment. I am trying to answer all, and I am failing, but please know this - I read and treasure each one.

Below are my recent releases on Kindle -please excuse their presence in the body of the blog. I haven't the energy to get them up as 'buttons' in the sidebar. You can click on the covers to go to the Amazon links.

  1. Character. That is what people will remember. That is what I remember about my loved ones that have left this earth. That is what I'll remember about you. Your true grit. Your love for Jesus. Your love for your darling wife. Your compassion to the wounded and hurting--the pups and people.

  2. This will go down as one of your most important posts, Andrew. Love it. "Our legacy is what we've said to the people who matter most, the words sincerely spoken that surround a wife with love and buoy up a friend whose hope is failing, and give heart to a stranger we've only kown through blogging." Thanks for the encouraging words you've given to me!

  4. Beautifully said, Andrew! We wait too long; then it's too late. We don't take those opportunities, or don't see them right in front of our eyes; then it's too late.

Thank you for sharing these words! I pray they encourage your readers, me included!!! Encourage them to not wait til it's too late!!! Tell your loved ones; tell your friends and coworkers and those around you...tell that stranger that their life matters too!
