Your Dying Spouse 182 - More Days Like This..?

I'm too ill to write much, and pretty disheartened. Barb's dad had a major setback after his great rally from a major stroke on July 3, 2016.

Doesn't look good.

I still believe in his miracle, that he came back from the first crisis long enough to have a few more conversations with the people he loves.

That is, in itself, a victory.

Don't turn away from God because He doesn't follow the teachings of idiot TV preachers who say you just have to pray in the right way (and send them some money) and all will be fine.

We work for the God who let that fate from which He caused Abraham to spare Isaac befall His own Son.

Christianity is not a children's story with a pastel, smiling Jesus.

Neither is life.

But at the end of it, there is Someone who loves us.

The musical inspiration today comes from Linkin Park...

If you have a mment, I'd like to ask you to visit Change.org to consider a petition to free a 'death row dog' who has been separated from his family for ten months over a misunderstanding. Marley was saved from Afghanistan by a US serviceman; please help make sure this story doesn't end in needless tragedy! Marley's gotten a lot of support...but he still needs our help.

If you can, please do leave a comment. I am trying to answer all, and I am failing, but please know this - I read and treasure each one.

Below are my recent releases on Kindle -please excuse their presence in the body of the blog. I haven't the energy to get them up as 'buttons' in the sidebar. You can click on the covers to go to the Amazon links.

  3. Simplicity, authenticity, and humility is the story of Christ, and become our story the closer we come to living it the Christ-way. Interesting parallel with Isaac and Jesus (Abraham and Father-God), I hadn't thought of it in that regard.
    Praying for your family.

  4. You've been hit with a double whammy, Andrew. I am praying for your father-in-law and for you and your recovery from this recent downturn. I can see your pain and "grit" coming through in your writing today and it makes me smile. You are such a fighter! And it's true that we cannot expect that God will remove all of our pain. What an incredible example you gave of how--unlike with Abraham--God allowed his own son to be killed as a sacrifice for our sins. Not everything in life is pleasant or easy--far from it! But that gives me all the more reason to not just pray for you and your FIL's health, but your hearts to feel God's comfort and grace. He is there with you and the rest of us are there in spirit and prayer!

  6. Andrew,
The hope comes through in spite of it. His chance to have a few more conversations.
You are still preaching hope and miracles.
Whatever is praiseworthy, think upon these things...
You are focusing the attention to hope in dark days.
    Bless you, Andrew!
    Love,
    Tammy
Ps, can Barbara send me your address if you're hurting too much to type it?

  7. Yes, Andrew...at the end of it all, there IS someone who loves us! And He is waiting for us with Open Arms, when the time is right!

Still praying with you and Barb for that miracle of healing - a 2nd miracle! - for Barb's dad; and for your relief in the pain and situation you are in...Your words always inspire...thanks for sharing as much and as often as you are able to do so!

  8. Andrew, I'm so sorry about Barbara's father. Your perspective is spot on. Sometimes, we get our victory, but it looks different than we expect because God's purpose for it is different than we knew. And yes, always this: God loves us, and when we reach the end, this truth doesn't change.

I'm praying for you and Barb, my friend. Day and night.
