But still.
He was my wife's beloved father. And he was the greatest man I ever met.
Barbara, this is for you.
Where have the golden days all gone
that defined whom I've become?
Why am I left all alone
under a cold and burning sun?
Where's the rock that was my shield,
why has he gone away?
How could such a giant yield
unto a dying day?
They say that parting's not forever
and that we shall meet again,
but years ahead seem to cry, "Never!"
and in the meanwhile comes the pain.
Please help me, Lord, I am undone, tell me Your morning's yet to come.
Music from the Dropkick Murphys, with Forever.

ReplyDeleteMorning is coming, Susan, in a place where beer for breakfast is not only allowed but encouraged.
DeleteRemember the old irish blessing: "May you spend eternity with the Holy Family beside a lake of beer."
Andrew, what a wonderful legacy to Barbara's father and your dear friend. Morning is right around the corner. Don't lose hope. Every promise of God is true. Haven't been on here much, but the prayers have not stopped.
ReplyDeleteMary, thank you for this. Even in the darkest, coldest night, hope oes survive, and will eventually be triumphantly validated.
DeleteWe're so grateful for your prayers!
Barbara and Andrew, I am truly sorry for your loss. We've recently discovered losing a parent is painful. I am praying God's comfort for you in this painful season.
ReplyDeleteJeanne, thank you so much, and please know that our prayers are with Wendel, and you.
DeleteWhat a beautiful gift to write for your wife. You both are in my prayers tonight. May the Lord bring you His comfort.
ReplyDeleteBettie, thank you so much, from both of us...and please forgive the tardiness of my reply.
