Your Dying Spouse 612 - Cowboy Up

Does this really break your heart,
that I am marked to die?
Well, cowboy up, and play your part,
for I won't see you cry.
This is no Greek tragedy
for slow sad violins.
Rather, it's opportunity,
and the most resilient wins.
Yes, you will go on alone
and that's the way it breaks.
You are in the sorrow zone,
but you have what it takes.
But never think you're far from care;
I'm in your heart, and will be there.

Music from Bon Jovi. with Blaze Of GLory.

Your Dying Spouse 611 - Our Daily Bread {FMF}

Everything is all going so wrong now, but there is a song in my heart.

I'm still here, and the moment is everything.

You'll get no help from yesterday
and potential doesn't matter.
Your only focus is the way
that you still climb up the ladder.
You are alone upon the stage
in the spotlight's ice-hot glare
and every moment seems an age;
oh, how did you get there?
Do not ask for pity, friend,
for compliments or favour,
for here, today, at journey's end
your only hope's your Saviour.
Forget tomorrow, accept instead
His Love as your daily bread.

Music from 30 Seconds To Mars, with Do Or Die.

Your Dying Spouse 610 - Thy Will Be Done

This is not the fight I wanted
but it's the only one I've got.
No place for courage vaunted
in a war that God forgot.
I'm glad you can't see the ugly
realities of the daily grind,
and read the tricks malignancy
plays upon my tired mind.
I hope all the pain has meaning
but it's something I can't tell,
and perhaps there is a gleaning
of these postcards from hell.
In the end I gotta trust
a God who's proven just.

I am running out of ways to say how hard things are getting, so I won't.

Instead I will tell you that there are lovely banks of clouds over the Manzanos, a mountain range to our east.

And there is a very sweet young labrador, Jax, visiting. He lives own the road and comes to hang out for a few day at a time. Everyone loves him, and his owners now he's here, just taking a vacation.

So on that note, how about the Go-Go's, with Vacation?

Your Dying Spouse 609 - To The End

They say I should resign myself
for the losses yet to come,
sell off my dreams from the shelf
where they lived since I was young.
Time for cleaning, Swedish Death,
that's so popular these days,
so my wife can spare her breath
going through my throw-aways.
They say it's really very clear
that my time is getting short,
and I should plan on leaving here,
but this is my retort:
What I have left I will defend
and keep the light on to the end.

Music from Feeder, with the relentlessly cheerful Buck Rogers.

Your Dying Spouse 608 - Easter Horizon and Canine CPR {FMF}

I think we tend to quickly pass over Good Friday.

It's ugly; it's death, and in church there's no music. We know that the Easter Sunday service will be cool, and we want to skip past the grim grey ghastly gore.

Good Friday sucks.

And it is also the cornertone of our faith, an experience we all will one day live.

And we have to wait for the next thing. (Next is the Five Minute Friday writing prompt this week.)

The reason that the world is round
is we're not meant to see ahead;

our friends now by us, safe and sound

and then, tomorrow, dead.

But that which hides darkness

also hides the coming light,

requiring faith we must confess

that there is an end to night.
The stone rolls to close the Tomb;

can it ever roll away?

If we gain admittance to that room
will we find only decay?
But it's precisely what we can't foresee
that brings new life to you and me.

I had mentioned a while back that I was pulled back from death by my dogs doing canine CPR. Here's a demonstration, courtesy Madrid's Municipal Police.
