[And yes, I guess Israel does need buffer land between it and Syria. More than ever, now.]<br />I was less starry-eyed some weeks later, when Israel closed the border after some horrendous bombing in Tel Aviv.<br />We'd stayed at Christ Church Jerusalem guest house. And the Palestinian cook did an excellent job. And now he lost his job (and the guest house lost a good cook), because Israel closed the border.<br />And I thought, "They're not stopping terrorists. They're creating terrorists." The unemployed.
